The Shires Copper Lozenge Sweet Iron Snaffle Bit has a mouthpiece designed to produce a sweet taste and encourage salivation as it oxidizes.
The copper lozenge and loose ring cheeks make this a relatively mild training bit.
Features:
Stainless steel round eyes, solid jointed 13mm mouth and 110mm 4-1/4″ cheeks. Exerts poll pressure with a leverage action caused by upper shanks.
The loose rings discourage the horse from leaning on the bit whilst the lozenge softens the contact and the copper helps encourage mouthing. Mouthpiece thickness: 16mm. Cheek height: 65mm. Stainless steel is the most common material for bits. Durable, easy to clean, tasteless and does not rust. Copper is used in the mouthpiece, creating warmth and encouraging salivation to keep the mouth soft.
Double chain curb with leather ends.

The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movementâ„¢.
The Shires Sweet Iron Raised Ribs Bevel Bit offers mild leverage and helps with control.
The sweet iron and copper mouthpiece aids in salivation and acceptance of the bit. The ring is smaller on bits under 5-inches so the bit remains proportionate with the smaller horse head.
Features:
These silicone bit guards are super stretchy for easy application. Shape is retained once in place.
The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1″ high, and tilted forward at a 45º angle, allowing just enough room for the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip, but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt.
