This bit features a traditional flat French link mouthpiece that distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars, encouraging a softer contact and improving communication between horse and rider. Our Satinox “Comfort Mouth” Kimblehook bit is a variation on the traditional kimberwick style bit. Can be used with or without a curb strap.

A French link snaffle isย a double-jointed bit with a flat, oval-shaped centerpiece designed to lie comfortably on a horse’s tongue. This design provides a milder, more uniform pressure than a single-jointed bit, prevents the mouthpiece from pressing into the roof of the horse’s mouth, and allows for more independent control of each side of the bit. It is often recommended for horses with less palate clearance.
The Dr. Bristol link and the French link differ in several ways. The Dr. Bristol link is not a Dressage legal mouthpiece, the French link is. The main difference is that the French link sits at the same angle as the rest of the mouthpiece, while the Dr. Bristol sits at a different angle. The Dr. Bristol will rest across the horse’s mouth until the horse comes against the bit at a certain angle, at which point, the edge of the Dr. Bristol center link will come against the tongue. This makes the mouthpiece a bit more corrective than a French link mouthpiece which typically stays flat against the tongue.

Myler Medium English Dee without Hooks and Low Port Comfort Snaffle MB 04
Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/8″ Medium Dee without Hooks, MB 04 Low Port Comfort Snaffleโข, Level 2
The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure, however, it has a small (ยผ”) port that introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching.

The fixed rings prevent pinching, whilst the sweet iron mouthpiece encourages salivation. The lozenge avoids a nutcracker action. Sweet iron mouthpieces are designed to oxidize to produce a sweet taste which helps with mouthing. The addition of copper to the mouth ensures the horse will not take up too much of a contact, ideal for horses that can take a hold. Stainless steel is used for the cheeks due to it being durable, easy to clean, and resistance to rust.
